Thank you to all the members of the Association for the trust granted through a new mandate. It is a new beginning, because the Association has been strengthened with the joining of several prestigious companies in the wood processing industry. Prolemn is a representative and credible partner for political and governmental actors, and we reaffirm our desire for institutional dialogue based on evidence and studies, on data and figures, for the foundation of public policies that the forest sector and the wood-based industries greatly need.
The lines of action debated in the plenary session of the General Assembly will tackle the main challenges of the moment:
- Preparing the national support framework for EUDR implementation and providing support for implementation to member companies.
- Reduction of bureaucracy in the forestry sector and the administrative costs imposed on economic operators.
- Improving the competitiveness of the sector, especially through a better organization of the primary wood market.
- Increasing the reputation of the sector by promoting the use of wood as an ecological building material – renewable and biodegradable, with enormous carbon storage potential.
- Strengthening the capacities of members in legal matters. Combating illegal logging and illegal timber trade to create a fair economic environment for all market participants.
- Promoting actions that support energy efficiency in the use of the wood resource.
